Joe Oringel, CPA, CIA

Joe offers 20 years of experience in internal auditing, fraud detection, and forensics. He has over ten years of Big Four external audit, internal audit, and risk advisory experience, most recently with PwC. His corporate experience includes information security, internal auditing, and risk and control of large ERP systems for companies in highly-regulated industries, including Pharmaceuticals, Utilities, and Financial Services.

 

He left PwC in 2006 to consult with large, complex organizations to help them take advantage of new technologies for continuous auditing, continuous monitoring, visual reporting, and risk-focused data analysis. Joe uses elements of cloud computing for much of his own infrastructure and also for communicating with clients and staff. This helps to keep him up to speed on cloud computing issues, both as a user and as an audit and control professional. 

 

Joe is a frequent speaker and author about continuous auditing, data analysis, and social media, and has presented similar topics at MISTI’s SuperStrategies, the IIA’s

Governance Risk and Compliance Conference, and numerous Chapter and District Conferences around the country. He led the development for the IIA’s on-site course on Auditing the Cloud launched in Q4, 2011.  

 

He is also an active blogger, tweeter, and experimenter in using Social Media tools. His article, “Social Media Implications for Internal Auditors” was published in WG&L’s Internal Auditing in July 2010.  

 

He studied at Louisiana State University’s acclaimed Center for Internal Auditing, earning a BS in Accounting. Joe also holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
